PLANS
Johnny will spend this year adapting to Drabwurld, rising in influence and rank as he helps out, making friends and alliances, deepening friendships and the like. Also, getting money. He likes money. He will also begin to have much more control over his powers, honing and sharpening them under the tutelage of Erik Lehnsherr. Plans for him to power up.

MARCH - Unfreezing people! Gotta use that power for something, right? Also, picking up a quest from Ariadne. Starting to be trained by Erik Lehnsherr, living between Erik's n Charles' place and Ariadne's.
APRIL 15 - ...Something unexpected happens. Denial. Smashing harps. Friendships are weird.
MAY - GOTTA GET HIM SOME SWANS. LET'S GO HUNTING.

SUMMER IN 2,701 (Jun, Jul, Aug)

JUNE - Johnny joins the tourney! He's never going to be able to resist this.
JULY - Shocked by anti-shardbearer hangings (what the fuck, people?), accidentally burn Jack's wrist when hauling him away from shanking folks.
AUGUST - Johnny destroys Golems for Ariadne; Johnny also enjoying Leathann's Festival of lights because it's beautiful.

FALL IN 2,701 (Sept, Oct, Nov)

SEPTEMBER - Checking out the festival, that's right up Johnny's alley.
OCTOBER - Samhain! Johnny parties! And also learns something important about his friend Jack.
NOVEMBER - Hunting for magic users, go. Johnny's going to haul more than a couple back.

WINTER IN 2,701/2,702 (Dec, Jan, Feb)

WINTER - SUIT UP, WE'RE GOING HUNTING.
JANUARY - Excitement! Johnny hopes the party room's up and running because it's time to pay that a lovely visit.
FEBRUARY - Horror. Enjoying the festival (on a date? with whom?) but seeing murdered elven artisans/musicians after. So not cool.

MARCH - Johnny's going to fry himself some skeletons and fireball their heads off.

[ April's a difficult month, that's for sure. Johnny is often a lot more aggressive than he ought to be, forceful and restless; the workings at the Spire often aren't enough to keep him occupied, and he finds himself going out for rides more and more frequently to clear his head and get away from the clamor.

The underground caverns is more than halfway through, but Johnny decides that that is not a thing he wants to be doing -- and so here he is with Ariadne in the woods, riding Straton through the heavy mists and shadow. Even then, he could feel something itching under his skin, and he knows that his friend feels it too. There's definitely tension in the air, a pulsing, crackling thing that makes people act strange, and he knows it, too.

He thinks of harps, thinks of how on edge and paranoid Ariadne is right now (which definitely doesn't help), and his concern for her is raised a notch, dampening his own agitated mood. Straton is quiet, and Johnny eventually speaks up. ] You ever hear those stupid harps?

[ La Llorona is a place of danger, and it should be ridiculous that Ariadne feels safest there. Should be, but she can manipulate the shadows of the trees, has lived there for months... it's home, as much as this world can be home. Straton knows it too, and Ariadne lets him sniff through the woods as much as he would like; she could race him through, but that would draw too much attention. Johnny probably doesn't like it, she thinks, which adds another knot of anxiety -- but this is her realm. He'll deal with it or she'll deal with him.

The question startles her, enough that she jerks on the reins; Straton makes an irritated noise and she apologizes quickly, leaning forward to rub his ears. ]

That- weird music? Yeah. This whole month, so far, at random moments.

[ Johnny's taking in the sights, actually -- he hadn't actually been in this neck of the woods before, and far from getting testy at Straton for stopping and sniffing at everything he can get his nose/tongue/mouth on, he's looking around its depths, the way it seems unrelentingly foreboding, innately terrifying to anyone else.

He frowns when she jerks; Ariadne's been on edge today, same as him, both a ticking time bomb for no apparent reason, and he pats Straton briefly. ]

Me, too. Did anyone figure out where it came from? A multi-dimensional boom box?

[ Every action is weighed and measured and found to fray upon her nerves. Every breath, every motion, is something that she has done wrong -- not a threat anymore, with Johnny, but still enough to push her closer and closer to the edge. ]

If they have, I haven't heard about it.

[ But she isn't so sure that she'd believe anything right now, either. ]

[ He's about to say something, make an observation, point out that there's something weird about the harps before he hears a rattling snarl not too far away from them, when the surroundings are rustling and he instinctively knows that it's something big and very unfriendly.

Johnny's eyes widen when the trees to their right snap violently, and they're looking into the face of a very large, very angry bandersnatch. ]

[ Oh, shit. Straton immediately snarls, fur bristling; he's younger, smaller, and Ariadne panics. She won't lose him, not to this, not now -- before Johnny can stop her, she's shoving the reins at Johnny and vanishes, reappearing further away. ]

Hey! Over here!

[ It's the last thing she says before the shadows of the forest gather around her, horns sprouting from her head, claws and teeth sharpening as she snarls. ]

[ What the fuck?

Johnny stares at her, wide-eyed and disbelieving when she transforms, shadows gathering dark and coiling around her before she becomes -- well, she becomes something else, something terrifying, leading the thing away.

Straton calms under him, having apparently spent enough time asleep with Johnny that he'd allow himself to be soothed by him -- but they're chasing after them both all the same; Johnny trying to grasp what had just happened, and worried for her all the same. ]

Ari!

[ The large bandersnatch gives chase -- Ariadne is the same size as the Devourer, and she's headed deeper in. Still, she doesn't run for long; doesn't run at all, really, simply moving from shadow to shadow until the angry creature is in the thick of the trees.

Then she pounces, snarling, leaping onto the beast's back and slashing through thick fur. She can't get a bite through the scruff, not yet, but it isn't stopping her from trying. ]
